River of Song Choirs

Keynote Singers - Heidelberg Community Choir

The Keynote Singers formed in 2010 as a dedicated community choir under the auspices of Banyule Community Health, Banyule City Council and Heidelberg Neighborhood Renewal. The choir meets weekly on Tuesday afternoons, 1.30-3.00pm at Banyule Community Health and welcomes new members. For further information please call the Banyule Community Health Service.

Musique Unique
This community choir runs on Monday evenings at the Diamond Valley Learning Centre in Greensborough. Our repertoire is mixed – folk, popular standards, world music etc. and a mix of a capella and guitar accompanied music.  Songs are generally sung in 2 or 4 part harmony. You do not need to be an experienced singer, sight reading is not necessary and there are no auditions. New members are most welcome. Come along and "try for one night" to see if it is the group for you.

Share the joy of singing with others, relax and unwind from the pressure of the week and feel your confidence in your ability grow. The choir will perform at local festivals and events and DVLC functions as negotiated within the group. Call 94359060 to book in for term one.

River of Song Workshops

Ongoing Songwriting Group
While at Confest over the New Year, I heard from a friend that he was most of the way through a 30 day commitment to write a new song, every day! I was inspired, intrigued and scared but decided to begin the challenge, for just 14 days.

At day 14, I could feel myself reaching a wall, and decided to extend the challenge out to 30 days to see what lay beyond. I am now on day 26 and, although it's been tough at times, I love what's emerging from day to day.

To continue the energy flow when the 30 day challenge is complete, I'll be offering a weekly songwriting group. This will be a group to support each other in our ongoing song creation. There will be opportunities to make commitments and hold ourselves, and each other accountable, and to workshop and develop song ideas as a group.

The group will be held in Heidelberg Heights on Wednesday mornings from 10-12, beginning on the 8th of February. If you're interested to come along, please give me a call on 0409946994.

Heart Songs Circles
In 2012, River of Song will be offering monthly Heart Songs circles. These circles invite participants into a sacred space through ritual, to journey with intention through meditation, sound, toning, chant, sound healing and song.

River of Song facilitates a warm and inviting space in which all participants - regardless of singing ability - feel safe to create sound together. Through gentle and simple physical and vocal warm up exercises, participants can open to allow their natural voice to sing out together. Songs are easy to learn by ear and songsheets can be provided as reminders after the event.

Heart Songs Circles will be held at Heidelberg Heights.

Individual Sessions
River of Song provides one:one sessions for those who wish to explore sound and vocal expression in more depth. Each session is unique, working with your personal intention and responding to what emerges in each moment. Sessions may explore healing through sound, creative self expression, songwriting or vocal technique. River of Song currently has five places available for individuals wishing to explore sound through four consecutive sessions at a special rate. Please contact Michelle to book your sessions today.

Special Events
Sacred sound circles can be co-created for your women's circle, rites of passage (birth, marriage, retirement, celebration of remembrance), celebration or other unique gatherings.
