Community Singing Facilitation, Sacred Sound Circles, Songwriting
About
River of Song services are provided by skilled and experienced singing facilitators with a variety of backgrounds.
Michelle Morgan Michelle has been exploring music since grade five when a musically inclined teacher saw her potential. She has received training in flute, violin, french horn, piano and has developed competent skills in guitar.
Inspired by the choral performaces at the Boite Singers Festival in 2005, she participated in community singing facilitation training with Community Music Victoria, and has since facilitated singing workshops, singing circles and a number of choirs. She also taught music for children aged six months to five years through the Mini Maestros program.
Following years of exploration in energy healing, body work and spiritual practice, Michelle incorporates meditation, sacred chant, toning and healing in her workshops. Her passion is in encouraging people to sing together, and to connect with the divine. Michelle's warm and gentle nature creates a space of welcome and healing, allowing participants to journey deeply and freely express.
As a songwriter, Michelle's songs draw on her rich spiritual journey: retreat in the Northern Indian Himalaya, acknowledging the seasons and transitions in life through chant and bhajans, expressing the depth of feeling around loss and surrender and the joys of living in bold, vibrant, sustainable and creative community. Michelle has arranged and recorded music for children and adults and is currently recording her first collection of original music for singing circles.
Michelle's qualifications include Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health, with Honours), Bachelor of Pastoral Care, Integrated Massage Therapist Certificate, Diploma in Psychospiritual Healing, and Certificate IV Workplace Assessment and Training. She has previously worked in hospital, aged care, community health, tertiary and research settings.
Michelle has recently completed studies in small business management, with the assistance of the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme, and has also completed musical training at NMIT in Jazz and Contemporary Performance. She recently attended the ACCET Choral Conductors Summer School and regularly attends professional development opportunities with Community Music Victoria.
Chelle Morgan
Chelle has been delving into various musical meanderings since grade five when a musically inclined teacher saw her potential. She took flute, violin, French horn and piano lessons until year eleven, when she bought a guitar from the guy down the road…
Many years later, inspired by the choral creations at the Boite Singers Festival, Chelle attended community singing leader training with Community Music Victoria and has since run singing workshops, singing circles and a number of choirs (Harmonic Emulsions, The Corrugations, and The Awakenings Choir). She also taught music through the Mini Maestro’s program alongside her degree studies in health sciences and pastoral (spiritual) care. Her passion is in encouraging people to sing – even (especially!) if they think they can’t.
Chelle considers life to be a spiritual journey, and has explored many ways to connect with the sacred over the past ten years. She has extensive training in healing modalities including reiki, pranic healing, massage, & shiatsu and has explored many meditation techniques. Her current personal practice incorporates meditation, sound, and writing. Her workshops focus on creating sacred space through sound and incorporate meditation, toning, chant and sacred songs.
As a songwriter, Chelle’s songs draw on her rich spiritual journey; Tibetan Buddhist retreats in the northern Indian mountains, acknowledging the seasons and transitions in life through chants and bhajans, expressing the depth of feeling around loss and surrender, and the joys of living in bold, vibrant, sustainable and creative community.
Chelle has arranged and recorded music for children and adults and is currently working on three recording projects in collaboration with inspiring artists.
